You need a quad band GSM phone which you can buy cheaply once you arrive. However you can still make international phone calls with Tracfone services and you might be able to use your Tracfone phone while in Canada. In fact I had an LG Phone 305C I would love to use but Tracfone forced us to replace the LG phone with a newer one.
International roaming is not offered by TracFone and is strictly prohibited.
US Cellular will not convert over to Tracfone as the number does not work. This is supposed to work according to the Tracfone website but I get the message Were sorry your service does not allow you to complete this call My phone is an active LG-L38C provided by Tracfone. Some TracFones like the W376 are triband so technically they do have the capability but my guess is TracFone prevents usage there by preventing the SIM from ever registering on the foreign network. TRACFONE cell phones dont work outside of the United States Puerto Rico or the US.
